The scope of environmental variation in the Garden Route offers visitors to the region the option of forest, wetland, dune, Fynbos, estuary, riverine, montane and coastal experiences without having to travel vast distances. What is the Garden Route?
The Garden Route is a coastal region of the southern Cape between the Little Karoo and the coast of South Africa. The name derives from the natural floral and forest beauty of the region which blooms predominantly between February and November, coinciding with the regions winter rainfall. The Garden Route is endowed with tea coloured rivers, hills shrouded in fynbos, forest and a series of five coastal lakes and the Knysna Lagoon making it a mecca for hiking, mountain biking, paragliding and numerous other adventure activities.
Where is the Garden Route?
The Garden Route is considered by most local South Africans to extend from Mossel Bay in the west to Titsikamma in the east, a distance of approximately 170km. Flanked by the Outeniqua Mountains to the north and the Indian Ocean to the south, the Garden Route is a narrow strip tranquil nature and forestry between Cape Town and Port Elizabeth, a popular scenic journey known as the Eden to Addo route.

Here you can savor remote solitude as you are informally accompanied along unfrequented routes between Wilderness and Knysna. Unencumbered as they walk, guests luggage is transported to the evening accommodation.
The route traverses two nature reserves, the Wilderness National Park and Goukamma Nature Reserve , wonderful protected areas of the diverse indigenous flora in the region.
